Academic Achievements
Since 1988, Mr. Zhou has been engaged in engineering consulting and special research in various sectors of transportation, such as railway, civil aviation, highway, port, and urban rail transit. He has presided over and participated in the preliminary research, demonstration, industry planning, policy research, consulting and evaluation of major national transportation infrastructure projects such as new construction, reconstruction, and expansion of trunk railways, high-speed railways, and dedicated passenger lines, inter-city railways, urban rail transit, civil aviation airports, expressway, and port facilities. His consulting and research cover the comprehensive transportation development planning studies for the 11th, 12th, and 13th five-year plans, the studies on national railway medium- and long-term development planning, the layout planning for national civil aviation airports (2020, 2030) and other studies on national and regional transportation development planning and related policies, as well as a number of major national projects and special studies such as the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway, Yantai-Dalian Ferry, Qiongzhou Strait Sea Cross Passage, Hangzhou Bay Sea Cross Bridge, new construction and expansion projects for airports in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. He has successively presided over the consultation and evaluation of rail transportation projects and construction plans in more than 30 cities across China. He has presided over and participated in a number of research projects and consulting and evaluation projects, which were awarded outstanding achievement prizes by the NDRC, the Civil Aviation Administration of China, China National Association of Engineering Consultants, and CIECC.
