Dr. Wang Yanhua, research fellow, started to work in CIEEC’s Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Resources Department in 1995. She is now the director of the Rural Economy & Regional Development Department, project manager, research-fellow-level senior economist, and national registered consulting engineer (investment). She has been engaged in the research on industry development planning, industry policy research, investment evaluation of the agricultural project, and feasibility study.
Dr. Wang has presided over more than ten national-level research projects on policies related to poverty alleviation, agricultural policies, regional development, and transnational agricultural investment. Specifically, the Research Report on Agricultural Investment Cooperation between China and South America won the second prize of outstanding research achievements of the NDRC; the Research on China's Poverty Alleviation Policies, Mechanisms and Countermeasures received the third prize.
She has written many policy recommendations which have been collected by Global Finance and other publications. She has received instructions from leaders of the Party and country about her special reports on the protection of agricultural germplasm resources, transnational investment, and agricultural bio-energy.She has presided over or participated in the formulation of major national plans many times. She has taken part in more than 20 plans on such issues as poverty alleviation, agriculture, and transnational investment. Typical plans include the 13th Five-Year Plan for Poverty Alleviation, the 13th Five-Year Plan for Relocation of the Poor, the National Plan for Adding 100 billion catties of grain, the National Plan for the Production and Development of Main Producing Areas of Sugar Cane, and the National Plan for Settlement of Nomads. All these plans have played an important role in guiding the development of related industries in the country.
She has presided over and completed the evaluation of nearly 300 national major agricultural projects.
